Well, if these are the headlines for coming posts, I'd better go get some popcorns.

Can't wait to read about the "Big Chill" vs. "Kasdan" match.

"LAWRENCE FUCKING KASDAN."

I'll drink to that.

If you write screenplays, Lawrence Kasdan SHOULD be your fucking idol no matter what. He's the reason I got started on this horseshit in the first place.

Huh. I can see how I rate in your stream of subconsciousness. I coulda sworn I was in Austin...perhaps not.

M--
No, these are not teasers for upcoming posts. The meat of year's fest was somehow more deeply affecting, more personal, and I dunno that I'm going to be quite as vocal and open with a lot of it.

I think I already did. Several times.

matt--
Heh, I told LK that when I first met him a year or two ago: "you're the man who made me think about screenwriting." In his talk at AFF this year he mentioned how often he gets that from people, and how that drives him to keep trying to reach out to people and tell them "then fine -- if you're crazy enough to enter this business, then stay crazy enough to demand that we do really good work."

shawna--
A few points:
(1) I am a clumsy idiot, and the conspicuous absence of your name is just more proof
(2) believe me when I say you ARE included and referenced in this piece -- every time the word "friend" or "good friends" is mentioned.
(3) I'll edit the piece to address this stupid embarrassing accidental oversight -- not because the oversight bothers you, but because it bothers ME.
Now gear up and go hard. ;-)

Oh, that's much better -- now I'm a *nag* on your subconscious.

Still, thanks for remembering me in there between Kasdan and MUY THAI!

Dude, I wasn't even THERE and I understood that column completely. Could have written something similar many times.

Missed you guys SO MUCH, words can't even begin to express. Which sucks for those of us trying to make a living expressing the unexpressable (yes, Damn it, that's a word if I say it is).

AFF couldn't refund my pass for this year, so you suckers better be ready to party just as hard next year.
