Happy Texas Independence Day.
March 2, 1836, the Sovereign Republic of Texas declared herself free and independent from Mexico. For many folks -- even many who live in Texas and who claim ancestry and heritage here -- the day doesn't mean as much as it ought to, but for me... well, it matters.

November 4, 2008 - the day Mexico reclaims Texas. ;-D
They couldn't afford us, and besides, that would then mean from Mexico the US would be on the far side of the Red or Sabine rivers, and there ain't NOBODY so hard-up that they are hankering to sneak into Okiehoma or Loozyanna.
